It’s been quite a week. My wife Logan gave birth to our son Freddy on Monday morning at 3:39 a.m. and we came home Tuesday afternoon. He’s named after his maternal grandfather and great grandfather. And his mother. Frederick Lincoln Sachon Davis.

He doesn’t get it from me but: So far he’s a perfect little gentleman and has charmed everyone he has met.

He was born on March 15—the “Ides” of March, a day significant in history and made more so by Shakespeare’s work. It’s when Brutus and 60 other Senators did away with Julius Caesar in 44 B.C.

The famous line from the play, of course, is: “Et tu, Brute?”

One could interpret this as meaning Freddy will be ambitious. Or a back-stabber! But I don’t. In fact, the way I see it? His is a birth day on which to avoid cockiness. A soothsayer warned Caesar, “beware the Ides of March.” Because the soothsayer thought some harm would come to Caesar by then. Later, when Caesar passed the soothsayer on the way to the Senate that day, he said, “the ides of March are come.” And the soothsayer responded, “aye, Caesar, but not gone.”

Believe the soothsayers, Freddy. Meanwhile: I’ve got your back.
March 15 was also a day synonymous with debt settlement. And since Matt Davis & Son Communications is still a going concern, we see this as a good omen.

Thanks to the Weill Cornell team at the New York-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns on the Upper East Side. They took such good care of us. And Freddy’s first view of the world was from the 14th Floor overlooking Manhattan and the East River. 🏙

No pressure, son. But it’s a lot better than my first view of the world “overlooking” East Croydon.

I love him with all my heart! ♥️

Thanks, as always, for your support.
